Merzbow

Merzbow collaborations come in all manners of shapes and sizes, and not only in terms of sonic direction, but also in quality. Sometimes you can feel like the two (or more) of them didn't quite get a deeper understanding of what the other one really has in mind, and it ends up with two disparate elements of experimental music discordantly clashing against each other.

On this one however, noise legend Masami Akita gets teamed up with glitch artist Kim Cascone for what might be one of the most thoroughly realized symbioses of Merzbow's world with somebody elses thus far. These two really complement each other well - Merzbow of course provides the raw punch, while Kim handles the more precise manipulations of sound, cutting a large portion of it into sharp-angled snippets of sudden noise outbursts.
