Mai Mao

Having released two wildly unhinged cassettes in 2020 and 2021 capturing their free-form improvisations at gigs, Japanese duo Mai Mao (Shizuo Uchida on bass and Kyosuke Terada on guitar) present their first formal album ‘Ricshari’. A remarkable range of dynamics are on display, from noisy yet ambient drones to frenetic, fuzz-drenched guitar-duelling meltdowns a la Lightning Bolt.
