Asher Gamedze

Asher Gamedze’s debut LP Dialectic Soul presents the Cape Town-based artist as a dynamic new voice in jazz. This is potent and adventurous work, in tune with the currents of jazz history in the same way as Gamedze’s fellow rising star Makaya McCraven. Furthermore, there are numbers on Dialectic Soul which operate at the point where the compositional boldness of spiritual jazz begins to dissolve. Dialectic Soul is a striking opening act from Gamedze.
