This release presents two splendid albums by the celebrated Cuban conga performer Machito (1912-1984), both of which include accompaniment by first-rate jazz stars. The LPs are "Kenya-Afro Cuban Jazz" (Roulette SR-52006), on which Machito is joined by Cannonball Adderley, and "With Flute ti Boot (Roulette SR-52026), featuring Herbie Mann (who also plays on "Kenya" and composed all of the tunes here). These sessions also boast such outstanding musicians as Johnny Griffin, Curtis Fuller, and Joe Newman.
