CONTAINS ONE TRACK APPEARING HERE FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!

This release contains Benny Goodman’s long unavailable original ON CD FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER! soundtrack for the 1956 film The Benny Goodman Story (Decca DL 8252/8253), presented here in its entirety for the first time ever on CD. A biopic which followed the path of the commercially successful The Glenn Miller Story (1954), the Goodman film (on which the clarinetist was portrayed by Steve Allen) suffered from a bad script and, although it wasn’t a true failure in its time, Benny himself felt a little embarrassed about the way in which his life was represented. However, the original soundtrack, which tried to include the biggest events in Goodman’s artistic life, was brilliantly recorded and featured not only Goodman’s own clarinet, but also a myriad of guests, such as Teddy Wilson, Lionel Hampton, Gene Krupa, Urbie Green, Stan Getz, Buck Clayton, and Harry James, among many others.
