ONLY STUDIO RECORDINGS WITH EXCELLENT SOUND QUALITY

One of the most revolutionary saxophonists in jazz history, John Coltrane was also a superb ballad player, capable of creating a very personal and intimate sound. This CD compiles some of his best ballad performances, many of them in a quartet format. All of these tracks were recorded in studio conditions and have excellent sound quality. Among the highlights are his own song “Naima” (Coltrane’s most famous ballad) and the backing of other jazz greats like Freddie Hubbard, Thelonious Monk, Wynton Kelly, Red Garland, Paul Chambers and Art Blakey.
