4-CD BOX-SET

INCLUDES 24-PAGE BOOKLET

This 4-CD release compiles all existing small group studio collaborations between Johnny Hodges and Ben Webster recorded from 1954 to 1961. Included here are the complete albums Blues-A-Plenty (Verve MGVS 6123), Not So Dukish (Verve MGV 8355), and Side by Side (Verve 8345), as well as their brilliant 1960 Jazz Cellar session (exceptional in that no other date exists in their collaborative discography showcasing them as the only horns), and the two sessions featuring both Hodges and Webster from the LP compilation The Smooth One.

Apart from these 1956-61 dates, Hodges and Webster’s only collaborative small group studio recordings consist of their their extended 1952-53 Norman Granz Jam Session sets (not included on this edition), and two rare 1952 dates added here as a bonus.
