Kirk Knuffke's latest album, Arms and Hands, is a delicate and subtly complex effort by the New York based trumpeter. Known for his diverse interests and his prolific output, as leader and collaborator, here Knuffke is joined by an unusual pairing of musicians -- Mark Helias, a bassist known for his work with Anthony Braxton and Cecil Taylor, and Bill Goodwin, a veteran jazz drummer who worked with Phil Woods, Art Pepper, Gary Burton, and Charles Lloyd.
