Bobby Timmons’ first two albums as a leader, This Here Is Bobby Timmons (Riverside RLP1164), and
Soul Time (Riverside RLP9334), both appearing here in their entirety.

The LP first presents Timmons in a trio format with Sam Jones on bass and Jimmy Cobb on drums,
while the second consists of a quartet set with Blue Mitchell on trumpet, Sam Jones again on bass,
and Art Blakey on drums.

Among the many highlights are trio versions of two of the leader’s own compositions: “Moanin’”, “This
Here”, and “Dat Dere”, as well as amazing readings of standard tunes like “Lush Life” (on unaccompanied
piano), “You Don’t Know What Love Is” and “My Funny Valentine”.
