SteepleChase Records is the Copenhagen-based jazz label set up by Nils Winther. It specialises in bringing European jazz to the fore. Its origins lie in recording the likes of Chet Baker, Dexter Gorden and Stan Getz when toured in the country. However, it specialised in European-based artists such as Billy Gault, Johnny Dyani and Khan Jamal, and also released some obscure gems by Jackie McLean and Mary Lou Williams. Spiritual Jazz Vol. 11 doffs its cap to the label with this special release.
