Os Gatos (The Cats) were one of the most celebrated bossa nova bands of the ‘60s, despite the fact that they only recorded two albums. A true all-star formation, the group included leader and guitarist Durval Ferreira, pianist Eumir Deodato, bassist Sérgio Barrozo, and drummer Wilson das Neves. Deodato’s excellent arrangements helped make Os Gatos’ self-titled debut an important album in the history of Brazilian pop. Aquele Som Dos Gatos followed, and though it marked the band’s final record, each member continued to make inroads into the jazz/samba scenes both in Brazil and in the rest of America during the 1960s and ‘70s. Both LPs are presented in their entireties on this CD.
