Although dubbed "The Genius Of Jazz" by The New York Times, James Kern "Kay" Kyser was also noted in Ripley's Believe It Or Not as the only major bandleaders who not only could not read music but rarely sang or played an instrument. Instead, Kay proved himself the master showman, assembling and directing one of the finest and most-loved of all big bands. Kyser and company starred in seven movies and racked up nearly 80 hits between 1935 and 1948. This collection includes a few of them, but is mostly comprised of Kay Kyser collectibles - rare tracks cut between 1944 and 1947. Among them: the superb flip sides of many hits plus other tracks somehow lost amid the flood of Kyser chartbusters.
