FEATURING NANA VASCONCELOS

This live album captures American trumpeter and free jazz proponent Don Cherry undertaking one of his most ambitious projects - the Organic Music Theatre, which he established with his wife and visual artist Moki Cherry alongside his own New Researches outfit. Their inaugural concert at 1972’s Festival de jazz de Chateauvallon saw Cherry unusually step away from the trumpet in favour of the piano, letting his voice lead an all-star cast of musicians and dancers. The transcendent results can be heard here.
