This release presents two outstanding, long unavailable LPs by Carl Smith: Let’s Live a Little (1958), and Smith’s the Name (1957). Produced by Don Law, both albums showcase Smith at the height of his popularity. They reveal his strengths as a singer of western swing, honky tonk, and country ballads. Here Smith is backed by his band, The Tunesmiths, and by a dream team of session musicians from the Nashville country/ rock & roll scenes, such as Hank Garland, Velma Smith, or Samuel Pruett (guitar), Tom Pritchard (bass), Floyd Cramer (piano), Farris Coursey (drums), and The Collins Kids (backing vocals), among others.
