DIGIPACK CASE

Really unique work from legendary guitarist Allan Holdsworth – a return to much more adventurous jazz music after years of famous material in a rock-fusion mode – working here alongside reedman Ray Warleigh – who is also at his most expressive as well! The tapes were recorded sometime in 1979, and show that in the most important corners of the British jazz scene, the adventurous spirit of the late 60s was alive and well – as Holdsworth shifts between guitar and some amazing sounds on violin, Warleigh plays saxes and flute, Bryan Spring handles drums, and bass is from Ron Mathewson – who managed to get the whole thing down on tape! The title track "Warleigh Manor" runs for almost 40 minutes in length, and features the musicians stretching out, but never in a way that's totally free – maybe held together by some especially soulful currents from Warleigh on flute.
