This edition contains the complete original long unavailable 1962 Joe Pass LP Sounds of Synanon (Pacific Jazz PJ48). It presents an unusual instrumental combination with baritone horn and bongos in a program of originals by Pass and other members of the band. All of the musicians here, including Pass himself, were at the time recuperating patients at the Synanon Drug Center in California, hence the title of the album. As a bonus, we have added a complete trio session recorded that same year and featuring Pass in a trio format backed by the great Richard “Groove” Holmes on organ, and Lawrence Marable on drums./p>
