This release documents the Omer Avital Quintet (with Avishai Cohen, Joel Frahm, Daniel Freedman and Omer Klein) at the end of their legendary 2006 Smalls Jazz Club residency. Recorded in one day in a bare-bones studio, the music is energetic, raw and direct. The middle-eastern and Moroccan influenced compositions - all penned by Avital - provide the perfect vehicle for the rhythmic complexity and lyrical power.
