This release presents the complete original Stan Getz albums that created the Bossa Nova craze in the United States: Jazz Samba (Verve V6-8432), featuring Charlie Byrd, and Big Band Bossa Nova (Verve V6-8494), on which the saxophonist is accompanied by an orchestra conducted and arranged by Gary McFarland. As a bonus to these two superb albums, a rare find in Getz’s discography, “Theme from ‘Dr. Kildare,” a song recorded during the same period which appears here for the first time ever on CD. The latter track was first issued as a single backed by “Desafinado”, a shortened two-minute version of the original master, which is heard on track 16.
