Ahmad Jamal

This release compiles - for the first time ever on a single set - - all known 1961 performances by the celebrated Ahmad Jamal Trio with Israel Crosby and Vernel Fournier at the Spotlite Club. Including two rare tracks, “Too Late Now” and “The Night Has A Thousand Eyes”, which escaped release on the original LPs. The Spotlite performances were originally issued on three LPs, Ahmad Jamal’s Stereo Odyssey (Argo LPS-636), Poinciana (Argo LPS.719) and Portfolio of Ahmad Jamal (Argo LPS-2638). Three extra studio tunes from the same period originally released on 45 rpm singles have been added as a bonus. This formation of the group wouldn’t last long, as Israel Crosby died in mid-1962.
