Chet Baker's trumpet work with the Gerry Mulligan Quartet and with this his own quartet have firmly established him as “the” new trumpet stylist in jazz. In the recent Down Beat magazine poll of jazz critics, Chet won the new star trumpet division by virtually a unanimous vote. Pianist-composer Russ Freeman deserves much credit for the success of this album. His original compositions, and keen understanding of Chet's capabilities, provide a sparkling framework for Chet's inventive horn. Carson Smith, bass, and Larry Bunker, drums, complete the rhythm section. [Unsigned; probably Richard Bock
