Duke Ellington and Dizzy Gillespie made their only serious collaboration on February 19, 1959, when Diz participated on Duke’s Columbia album "Jazz Party" (Columbia CS 8127), reissued here in its entirety. It also includes one of the few appearances of singer Jimmy Rushing with the Ellington band. As a bonus, a live version of “Toot Suite” and a medley of Rushing vocals backed by the Ellington band, both recorded at the Plaza Hotel, in New York, the previous year.
