This release presents a collection of outstanding trio studio recording by Sonny Rollins made during 1957-1958. Comprised here are the complete original LP Freedom Suite (Riverside RLP12-258) in which Sonny is backing by such stars as Oscar Pettiford and Max Roach; an entire session featuring Henry Grimes and Specs Wright (that includes an amazing unaccompanied sax improvisation on "Body and Soul"); snd further isolated trio, duet snd solo recordings by Rollins taken from albums featuring bigger groups that have been compiled here for the first time ever.
