A really fantastic jazz project from early 70s France – but one that also features a strong contribution from Chicago percussionist Steve McCall – best known for his work in the Air trio, and as part of the AACM!

The music is a very freewheeling mix of jazz and global elements – with lots of percussion and drums from Steve McCall, saxes from the famous Joe Maka, keyboards from Saint Yves Dolphy, and guitar from Gerard Cubillon – plus occasional vocals from Gerard Philadelphe and Franck Valmont!

The album's mostly instrumental overall, and many of the rhythms have echoes of styles from Guadeloupe – mixed with bolder jazz moments, all in a way that's one of those perfect French criss-crossings of cultures from the 70s.
