Both Fôrça Bruta and Negro é Lindo, presented here in their entireties, capture the freshness of Jorge Ben’s rhythmic dialogue with the Trio Mocotó, consisting of drummer João Parahyba, percussionist Nereu Gargalo, and guitarist Luiz Carlos Fritz (aka Fritz Escovão).

Among the former album’s various hits are “Oba lá vem ela”, “O telefone tocou novamente” and “Mulher brasileira”. Negro é Lindo (Black Is Beautiful) was recorded when the shadow of Black Power was arriving to Brazil, and constitutes Ben’s journey towards his African roots.

While most of the songs on both albums were written by Jorge Ben, two of them (“Cassius Marcelo Clay” and the spectacular “Que maravilha”) are collaborations with the great Toquinho.
