Angelika Niescier

Winner of the Albert Mangelsdorff Prize and the WDR Jazz Prize, saxophonist Angelika Niescier is one of the most distinguished voices in European jazz, but she also maintains close ties with the most prominent figures on the American scene.

Together with cellist Tomeka Reid and drummer Savannah Harris, a trio with sparkling temperament and a joy in experimentation can be heard, allowing the complexity and originality of Niescier's compositions to shine on "Beyond Dragons". All aspects of the interplay are explored, sometimes transparent as chamber music, sometimes dense and impetuous, and always with captivating intensity.
