This is a fine jam session-flavored set featuring pianist Don Friedman, baritonist Pepper Adams, trombonist Jimmy Knepper, bassist George Mraz and drummer Billy Hart. Knepper and Pepper match together musically as well as their names do on three standards, a four-song ballad medley and selections by Sonny Rollins ("Audobon") and Adams ("Hellure"). The emphasis is on extroverted bop during the enjoyable session, which, in its CD version, adds three alternate takes to the program.
