3-CD SET WITH ESSENTIAL ORIGINAL ALBUMS

DELUXE 5-PANEL DIGIPACK

INCLUDES 20-PAGE BOOKLET

This release presents some of the best recordings made by the great Louis Armstrong in the mid-1950s and early 1960s. Included here are his small group recordings with the Oscar Peterson Quartet, his legendary dates with Duke Ellington at the piano, two splendid big band albums on which Louis performs spirituals and well-known standard songs, and a wonderful tribute to Fats Waller he recorded with his All Stars. All of the tracks contained here are studio recordings with excellent sound quality, and showcase Satchmo at his best both singing and playing trumpet.

The five complete albums compiled on this set are: Louis Armstrong Meets Oscar Peterson (Verve Records MGV- 8322), Louis and the Good Book (Decca DL 8741), Louis and the Angels (Decca DL8488), Louis Armstrong & Duke Ellington Together for the First Time (Roulette SR52074), and Satch Plays Fats (Columbia CL708).
