This wonderful 2-CD set contains in chronological order all the recordings Rugolo did fronting his studio orchestra in 1956. All the material featured here comes from sessions recorded for the Mercury label and which appeared on the following albums: "An Adventure in Sound-Brass", "An Adventure In Sound-Reeds", "Music From Out of Space" and "Rhythm Meets Pete Rugolo".
Pete Rugolo was not so much a tunesmith as he was a sound-smith, an inventor of new moods, of striking new colors, arresting combinations. His imagination roves to the horizons of possibilities in extracting fresh voicings from standard and familiar instruments.
