This double CD is a great tribute to Woody Shaw. There’s so many talented musicians on it that great music has to flourish one way or another. A Woody Shaw tribute is always a welcome one and this album, seen from the lens of Latin Jazz by one of the most accomplished and dynamic trumpet player in jazz scene today, is a special delight. It explores material from albums such as Rosewood, Love Dance, Song of Songs as well as original blues and a suite dedicated to Shaw. Lynch and company create a panoramic landscape with trumpets in solo, duo, trio and quartet formations. Recommended!
