Alto-saxophonist, Marion Brown, made sure he was ready before releasing his debut album, Three For Shepp, in 1966. He’d been seen around with the likes of Ornette Coleman and Sun Ra and played on albums by John Coltrane and Archie Shepp. The album offers three original pieces and three of Archie Shepp’s tunes, meandering from quiet and soulful to manic and avant-garde.
Recorded December 1, 1966.
