Polish pianist and composer Hania Rani embarks on her third solo endeavour, 'Ghosts'. Following a Swiss artist residency in an abandoned sanitarium amongst the mountains, the album title and its sombre messaging are inspired by the numerous rumoured ghosts that inhabit the hills.

What results is a project with an overhanging sense of finality, not necessarily of dread, with subdued keys and strings underpinning layered vocals against reverb-laden synth patches. Lead singles 'Hello' and 'Dancing with Ghosts' take drastically different approaches, with the former being an electro-ambient take on lounge jazz sensibilities.

Yearning, but not in a dark manner - something fans of Aurora might appreciate. 'Dancing with Ghosts' puts the shoe on the other foot, a moody and grumbling duet ballad with Patrick Whatson that conjures up images of cloudy plains - the ideal haunt for a spectre.
