El Gran Combo's releases are among the rarer and more authentic Latin soul albums. In addition to six boogaloos, Boogaloo con El Gran Combo has guaracha, son, son montuno, and a bomba. "Shake It Baby" is the liveliest of the boogaloos, and "Combolu" is very hip; all are good if one puts aside hopes for a great, lost hit single. Boogaloo con El Gran Combo is a fine listening album, to be appreciated for its great singing and a true Latin sound. All of El Gran Combo's boogaloo albums are well worth tracking down.
