Tony Conrad

Celebrating its one hundredth release, Black Truffle presents a major archival discovery: a document of the only performance by the trio of Tony Conrad, Arnold Dreyblatt and Jim O'Rourke from 2001. Conrad's avant-garde film, musical and installation work was pioneering for the genre of minimalism, and is known to have had a huge impact on O'Rourke ad Dreyblatt, who are both musicians hailing from miles-apart musical disciplines respectively. The 41-minute dirge is exactly what the show's flyer promised: "massive, ecstatic, pulsating overtones", producing a multitimbral harmony-cacophony using a mostly bowed ensemble.
