Born and raised in NYC, Tobias Picker is one of the world’s most renowned and respected composers. He has written a wide variety of music ranging from solo piano to full orchestra, but is best known for his colorful operas. Picker’s work is always lyrical, with a great expressive range, touching upon both tonality and atonality. This CD presents four powerful and original pieces of chamber music spanning four decades of creative activity (1976–2011). Brilliantly performed by some of the most accomplished musicians in NY, “Invisible Lilacs” features chamber masterworks by one of America’s major compositional voices.
