Fitz Gore & the Talismen

The rare third album from spiritual reedman Fitz Gore – the last part of a trilogy of fantastic records issued on his own tiny label in Germany at the end of the 70s – all of which easily rival some of the best indie American work of the time!

The style here is less slavishly tied to spiritual modes of the post-Coltrane years, and we mean that in a really great way – as Fitz mixes in keyboards and guitar with some of his instrumentation, and changes things up from track to track, while still allowing for plenty of soul and spirit in the music! One cut has just organ next to Gore's vocals, with a very odd sound – while others feature his tenor in a variety of small combo settings
