Brazil's Tropicalia movement gave birth to the musical careers of Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, and Os Mutantes - but one of its lesser-spotted heroines is Gal Costa. Her debut album came out in 1969 on Philips Records, and was much maligned for its original, controversial cover art, which shows Costa naked with a guitar covering her genitals.

This reissue via Audio Clarity doesn't stay true to the original cover, but it does honour Costa's recent passing by remaining faithful to the album as it appeared first. A mix of psychedelic rock, bossa nova, samba, and avant-garde influences collide with songs written by Veloso, Gil, Jorge Ben, and Tom Ze, making for a star-studded cast behind a powerful debut.
