Hiroyuki Onogawa

The ever-wonderful Mana label presents August In The Water: Music for Film 1995-2005, the first-ever retrospective compilation collecting the soundtrack work of Hiroyuki Onogawa.

Despite the fact that Onogawa's music is difficult to obtain outside his native Japan, he has built a cult following for his dreamy, spiritual ambient sound that makes for sublime listening outside of the intended context of film. Onogawa has carefully sequenced music from August in the Water, Labyrinth of Dreams, and Mirrored Mind into a cohesive album that shimmers, sparkles and delights with pretty twinkles and otherworldly ethereal minimalism.
