4 COMPLETE  LPs ON 2-CD SET

One of the jazz drummers who helped define the sound of modern jazz drumming, the great Art Taylor (1929-1995) only recorded five albums under his own name: the three included here, which were made when his talents were at their zenith in 1957-60, and two additional LPs taped during his twilight years in the early 1990s.

This set contains Taylor’s three earliest albums in their entireties, consisting of "Taylor’s Wailers" (Prestige 7117), "Taylor’s Tenors" (New Jazz NJLP-8219), and "A.T.’s Delight" (Blue Note BLP-4047), featuring a myriad of jazz stars, such as Donald Byrd, Charlie Rouse, Jackie McLean, John Coltrane, Stanley Turrentine, Wynton Kelly, Ray Bryant, and Paul Chambers, among others, plus Taylor’s own propulsive drums.

Tenor saxophonist Hank Mobley’s "Mobley’s Message" (Prestige PRLP-7061), a 1956 LP showcasing Taylor with a very similar unit to that on his debut album as a leader, has been added in entirety as a bonus.
