Miles Ahead was Miles Davis’ first recording with the Gil Evans Orchestra and opened the way for many more jewels to come. It is presented here in its entirety, along with the five 1962 orchestral tracks from Miles and Gil’s last studio collaboration, Quiet Nights.

The May 19, 1961 Carnegie Hall concert was the only live performance both recorded as a team, and
included versions of three songs from Miles Ahead, as well as an arrangement of “Spring Is Here” which never made it into any of the Miles Davis-Gil Evans studio albums. All four tracks have been added here as a bonus, as well as Miles’ 1953 original quartet version of “Miles Ahead”.
