4 1/2 STARS ALL MUSIC GUIDE

This release presents a complete 1960 performance by the JATP All Stars, originally issued on 4 separate LPs titled Jazz at the Philharmonic in Europe (Verve V-8539 to V-8542). It features none other than Dizzy Gillespie and Roy Eldridge on trumpet, Coleman Hawkins, Stan Getz, and Don Byas on tenor sax, Cannonball Adderley, Benny Carter and Leo Wright on alto sax, and J. J. Johnson on trombone, among others. Recorded during the same single performance, this set appears here on CD for the first time ever!.

As a bonus, a wonderful complete JATP sextet set recorded at the same venue three years earlier and featuring Eldridge with violinist Stuff Smith and pianist Oscar Peterson.
