One of the most accomplished folksingers of the sixties, Joan Baez was an instrumental figure in the decade’s civil rights movement. Possessing an operatic soprano voice with a strong vibrato, she crossed over from folk to rock and country while maintaining a politically charged message. This release contains her first LP, originally issued on the Vanguard label, the selftitled debut Joan Baez (released in October 1960). Ten bonus tracks from the same period have been added.
