Astrud Gilberto

Look To The Rainbow is one of the jewels of Astrud Gilberto's catalog and of the bossa nova canon. Teaming with arranger Gil Evans and producer Creed Taylor, the orchestral backing perfectly complements Astrud's inimitable whispery, understated voice. All the material here, except "Learn to Live Alone" and "Pretty Place"(Lugar Bonito) which were arranged by Al Cohn, were arranged by Gil Evans who brought all of his arranging chops to bear on bossa classics from Antonio Carlos Jobim, Baden Powell, and Carlos Lyra to name a few.. The personnel here was uncredited. There's no solo individualism and the whole album is based entirely on Creed Taylor's produced orchestra but for a few bars of sax or a Johnny Coles trumpet solo.
