The three volumes of this collection contain all of the Jazz Lab's studio recordings for the first time ever! Some of the sessions (like those from July 1957 included on volume 2), have never been previously issued on CD. That is also the case with specific tracks from other sessions, such as "Early Bird" from the September 3, 1957 date. "Smoke Signal", from the February 4, 1957 session, has only previously appeared on a compilation LP called "Jazz Omnibus", which has been out of stock for many years.
Donald Byrd (tp) & Gigi Gryce (as) on all tracks featuring Tommy Flanagan, Wynton Kelly, Jimmy Cleveland, Wendell Marshall & Art Taylor.
