A great session of all-star work by artists who were recording for Vanguard Records in the 70s – a crack lineup that features Elvin Jones on drums, James Moody on tenor, Clark Terry on trumpet and flugelhorn, Roland Prince on guitar, and Bunky Green on alto sax! The group also gets some non all-star help on rhythm from Albert Dailey on piano and keyboards, Angel Allende on percussion, and David Williams on bass – players who really help flesh out the groove, and keep things from just being more in an old school blowing session style. The great Ed Bland produced, and clearly had a hand in the overall sound – as there's moments here that recall his work for Perception Records – and tunes include a great one by Bland, and two more by Green
