With her intriguing, smoky voice and her graceful, behind-the-beat phrasing and ironic interpretations of song lyrics, Carmen McRae (1922-1994), who started her career as a pianist, became one of the most memorable vocalists in jazz. McRae sang in jazz clubs throughout the United States –and across the world –for over fifty years.

After Glow presents her backed by a trio including her husband Ike Isaacs on bass, playing piano herself on four tracks, and, most importantly, accompanied by the brilliant pianist Ray Bryant on a number of tunes.
