Recorded in New York in July of 1962, Bill Evans’ album Interplay showcased the pianist with a number of great players, including trumpeter Freddie Hubbard, bassist PercyHeath, and drummer Philly Joe Jones. It represents a rare treat, for up until 1962 Evans recorded primarily as a leader in the piano trio format and not with horns.
